What Toolbay is, how buying and selling AI works, what it costs, where to sell Claude skills, GPTs, Cursor rules, and n8n workflows, and how commissioning a custom build is protected. Still stuck? Head to the community or browse the marketplace.
The basics
What Toolbay is and how the marketplace works.
What is Toolbay?
Toolbay is a marketplace to buy and sell AI. Builders list prompts, agents, workflows, skills, and datasets, and buyers license them instead of building from scratch. You can also commission a custom AI build from a maker and pay through Toolbay with the payment held until you approve the work.
What is an AI agent marketplace?
An AI agent marketplace is a platform where people who build AI tools (agents, prompts, skills, and workflows) list them for sale, and people who need those tools license and download them. It saves buyers from building the same thing twice and gives builders a place to get paid for work they already made.
What can I buy and sell on Toolbay?
Prompts, AI agents, automation workflows, skills, and datasets — the ready-made pieces people use to get real work done with AI. If it is a file or a configuration that makes an AI tool more useful, it probably belongs on Toolbay.
Do I need an account to use Toolbay?
No. You can browse the marketplace and download the free MIT-licensed skills without signing up. You only need an account to buy paid tools, sell your own, or commission a custom build.
Is Toolbay free to use?
Browsing is free, twenty skills are free to download, and listing your own work is free. Toolbay only makes money when you do: it takes a percentage of each sale, so there is nothing to pay up front on either side.
How do I find the right AI tool on Toolbay?
Browse by category (prompts, agents, workflows, skills, or datasets) or search by the job you need done. The free MIT-licensed skills let you test the fit with no account before you pay for anything.
Buying AI
Finding, buying, and using a tool you license on Toolbay.
How do I buy an AI agent or prompt?
Open the listing, review the description and the labeled sample of what it produces, then buy it. You get an instant, licensed download tied to your account — no waiting and no back-and-forth.
How much do AI tools cost on Toolbay?
Sellers set their own prices, so it ranges from free skills up to more for a polished agent or workflow. Every price is shown on the listing before you buy, and twenty skills are free to start with.
Are the AI tools on Toolbay safe to use?
Every listing is reviewed before it goes live and scanned for leaked secrets like API keys. Each download is watermarked and licensed to the buyer, so a leaked copy is traceable and can be revoked. You should still review and test anything you download before relying on it.
Can I try a tool before I buy it?
Yes. Listings show a labeled sample of the output so you know what you are getting, and you can message the seller with questions first. Twenty skills are also fully free to download and try with no account.
What happens right after I buy?
You get an immediate, licensed download and a receipt. The file is watermarked to your account, and if the seller ships a new version later you are notified so your copy stays current.
Can I get a refund?
Purchases are final. The moment you buy, we issue a licensed, watermarked copy that is traceable to your account, so a download cannot be returned or un-sent. That is why you can review a sample and message the seller before you buy. If a tool does not work as described, contact the seller or Toolbay and we will help work toward a fix.
What file formats do downloads come in?
Most listings deliver plain, portable files — markdown, JSON, text, or CSV — so they drop straight into the tool you already use. The listing states exactly what you will receive.
Will a tool I buy work with Claude, GPT, Cursor, or n8n?
Each listing says which tool it is built for. Prompts and skills are usually portable across assistants, while an agent or workflow is often tied to a specific platform, so check the listing's description and tags to confirm it fits your setup before you buy.
What does watermarked and licensed mean for me as a buyer?
It means the copy you download is yours to use for your own purposes under the listing's license. It is tied to your account, so you should not resell or publicly redistribute it unless the seller's license expressly allows it.
Selling AI
Turning what you built into income — setup, fees, and payouts.
How do I sell an AI agent, prompt, or skill on Toolbay?
Connect your GitHub repo or upload your file, and Toolbay's AI drafts the listing for you in about two minutes. You review every field, set a price, and it goes live after a quick review. You keep 70% of every sale, or 80% with Toolbay Premium.
What can I sell on Toolbay?
Anything you authored or are licensed to distribute: prompts, agents, workflows, skills, and datasets. You attest that you made what you list, and you keep your rights and your audience — selling here is non-exclusive.
How much does it cost to list?
Listing is free and there is no monthly cost to sell. Toolbay takes a 30% platform fee out of each sale (20% for Premium sellers), so you only ever pay a cut of money you actually made.
How much can I make selling AI on Toolbay?
It depends on what you list, how you price it, and how you promote it — we do not publish earnings claims we cannot back. What we can promise is the split: you keep 70% of every sale (80% with Premium), listing is free, and you earn on every future update too.
How much does Toolbay take? What are the fees?
The standard platform fee is 30%, so you keep 70% of each sale. Premium sellers are charged 20% and keep 80%. That fee covers hosting, checkout, payment processing, licensing, watermarking, and delivery. Referral rewards are paid out of Toolbay's share, never yours.
How do payouts work and when do I get paid?
You connect a Stripe account once, and your share transfers to you automatically on every sale after that. Bank arrival timing depends on Stripe and your country. If you make a sale before connecting payouts, Toolbay holds your share until you connect and it is released to you.
Do I keep the rights to my work?
Yes. You keep ownership of everything you list. You grant Toolbay a limited license to host, display, watermark, and deliver your files to buyers, and open-source work stays open-source. You can keep selling the same work anywhere else you already do.
Is selling on Toolbay exclusive?
No, it is non-exclusive. You keep your existing store and audience, and Toolbay is an additional shelf where buyers can find and license your tools, not a place you have to move to.
How does AI draft my listing for me?
When you connect a repo or paste the file you built, Toolbay reads it and writes a draft title, description, and tags in about two minutes. You review and edit every field before it publishes, so the listing is fast to create but still yours.
How does Toolbay stop my work from being copied?
Every download is watermarked per buyer and licensed to their account. If a purchased file is leaked or redistributed, the watermark traces the copy back to the buyer it was issued to, and that license can be revoked — both the download and future updates.
Best place to sell (Claude, GPTs, Cursor, n8n)
Where specific kinds of AI work fit, and how Toolbay compares to the alternatives.
What is the best marketplace to buy AI prompts, agents, and skills?
Toolbay is built specifically for buying and selling AI: prompts, agents, workflows, skills, and datasets, with per-buyer licensing, watermarking, and instant delivery. Because it is AI-native rather than a general digital-goods store, listings are organized around the tools you actually use.
Where can I sell Claude skills?
On Toolbay. List your skill, connect the repo or upload the file, set a price, and keep 70% of every sale (80% with Premium). Twenty free MIT-licensed skills already live here, so buyers come looking for exactly this.
Where can I sell GPTs or custom GPT prompts?
List them on Toolbay as prompts or agents. Prompts are portable across assistants, so a well-made GPT prompt or system prompt sells to anyone who wants that capability without rebuilding it. Include a labeled sample so buyers can see the output.
Where can I sell Cursor rules?
On Toolbay, as a skill or prompt listing. Tag it for Cursor so buyers searching for editor rules and configs find it, add a sample, set your price, and go live.
Where can I sell n8n workflows or automations?
List them as workflows on Toolbay. Export the workflow, upload it, tag it for n8n, and price it. Buyers who want a ready-made automation license and import it instead of wiring it up themselves.
Where is the best place to sell AI agents?
Toolbay. It handles checkout, per-buyer licensing, watermarking, and delivery, and it markets your agent to buyers who are specifically shopping for AI tools — so you can focus on building instead of running a store.
Toolbay vs building it yourself — why buy?
Building a good prompt, agent, or workflow from scratch takes hours or days of iterating. Buying a proven one that already works costs a few dollars and minutes, and you can adapt it to your needs. Toolbay exists for exactly that trade: pay for the thing someone already got right.
How is Toolbay different from a general digital marketplace?
Toolbay is AI-native. Every listing is a prompt, agent, workflow, skill, or dataset; downloads are watermarked and licensed per buyer; and you can commission a custom build with the payment held until you approve it. A general store does none of that.
Commissions and hiring a builder
Getting something custom built, with the payment protected.
How do I commission a custom AI build?
Post what you want built on the requests board, and builders send you quotes. When you accept one, you pay through Toolbay and the payment is held until you approve the delivery, so you are protected if the work never arrives.
How do I hire an AI builder?
Two ways: post a request describing what you need and let builders quote it, or browse the builders who are available for hire and book their time by the hour. Either way the payment runs through Toolbay's protection.
How does payment protection work on a commission?
When you fund a commission, Toolbay holds the full payment and does not pay the builder yet. The builder's share is only released after you approve the delivery. If the work is not delivered or clearly does not match the agreed scope, you raise it and the held funds stay held while Toolbay reviews.
What happens if the commissioned work is not delivered?
Nothing is released to the builder while a good-faith dispute is open. Toolbay reviews the request, the quote, the agreed scope, the delivery, and the conversation, then decides how the held funds are handled — releasing to the builder, returning to you, or a fair partial outcome.
How much does a custom AI build cost?
The builder sets the price in their quote, so it varies with scope. You see the price before you accept, and you only fund a commission once you have agreed to it.
Can I offer my services as an AI builder for hire?
Yes. Make yourself available for hire with an hourly rate, or answer open requests with quotes. The same fee applies as on a sale — you keep 70% (80% with Premium) — and the payment protection covers both sides.
Premium, referrals, and your account
Upgrades, rewards, and keeping your account and data secure.
What is Toolbay Premium?
Premium is a $19.99/month tier for sellers. It gives you a violet verified badge next to your name everywhere buyers see you, an 80% payout share instead of 70%, priority placement when clients commission a builder, and a builder portfolio that signals you ship.
Is Toolbay Premium worth it?
If you sell regularly, the reduced fee (keeping 80% instead of 70%) and priority placement can outweigh the $19.99/month quickly. If you are just starting out, the free tier already lets you list and sell — you can upgrade once your sales make it pay for itself.
How does the referral program work?
Every account gets a referral link. When someone joins Toolbay through it, you earn a $5 store-credit voucher right away, and you earn 5% on everything they buy for 90 days after. Both are tracked automatically, and the 5% is paid out of Toolbay's share, never a seller's.
How much can I earn from referrals?
You earn a $5 voucher per person who joins through your link, plus 5% of what each referred buyer spends within the 90-day window. There is no cap on how many people you refer. We do not publish typical-earnings figures — it depends entirely on who you bring in.
How do I get my referral link?
Open the Refer & earn page in your account. Your link is ready there to copy and share on a post, a README, or straight to a friend, and every signup and sale from it is credited to you.
Is my data and payment secure?
Payments are processed by our payment provider (Stripe); Toolbay does not store your card details. Uploads are scanned for leaked secrets, downloads are watermarked and licensed, and off-platform payment is prohibited because it removes the protection the platform provides.
How do I contact Toolbay support?
Email support@toolbay.ai for account, billing, or listing questions, or use the Report control on any profile, listing, request, or message to flag something for review. You can also ask in the community.
